Best Dash Cam UK

Nextbase 622GW review

Buy this if you want a 4K Nextbase you can live with on a screen. Skip it if you need a rear camera in the box or parking that is more than a G-sensor.

A dash camera on a UK windscreen with the screen facing the cabin, filming the high street ahead

The 622GW is still Nextbase’s flagship Series 2 camera. It records 4K at 30fps, 1440p at 60fps, or 1080p at 120fps. The polarising filter is built into the lens bezel. That is a real evidence feature on a sunny A-road, because windscreen glare is how plates disappear at 3pm, not only at 11pm.

The 3-inch screen, Alexa, What3Words, and Emergency SOS are why it is the UK all-rounder rather than the evidence lead. You can set it up in the car without pairing a phone. You can read a What3Words location off the clip. Those are useful. They are not a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor.

Parking is Intelligent Parking Mode. Nextbase is consistent across this range: a hardwire kit is required for a reliable parking experience. The camera otherwise powers down with the ignition. A G-sensor wake from a capacitor is not the same as buffered parking on a live supply.

If you want this camera with a rear module already in the kit, use the Front + Rear listing. If you want dual STARVIS 2, use the A229 Pro.

Who it is for

UK drivers who want 4K, a polarising filter, What3Words, and high-street support.

People who prefer a screen in the car over an app-only setup.

Who should skip it

Parking-mode first buyers — this is a G-sensor wake, not a specialist.

Anyone who needs front-and-rear in one click. That kit is a different listing.

The good

  • True 4K at 30fps and a polarising filter you can twist on the lens
  • 3-inch touchscreen, which makes the camera usable without the app
  • What3Words and Emergency SOS are genuine UK extras

The bad

  • This listing is front only — the rear is another purchase
  • Parking is not buffered radar
  • No named STARVIS 2 sensor, so the night grade sits behind the VIOFO duals

Common questions

Is the rear included?
No on this listing. Use the Front + Rear kit if you want it in one box.
Polariser worth it?
It cuts windscreen glare on sunny roads. That is a real evidence feature, not a night sensor.
Parking grade C+ — why buy it?
Buy it for the screen, polariser, and UK extras. Not as a parking specialist.

  • Nextbase 422GW Front + Rear

A 1440p UK dual kit with a touchscreen. Easy to buy on the high street. Parking still needs a hardwire kit.
