Nextbase 422GW Front + Rear review
Buy this if you want a Nextbase you can set up on a screen, with a rear camera in the kit. Skip it if night plates or buffered parking are the reason you are shopping.

The 422GW is Nextbase’s mid 1440p camera. This Amazon listing is the front-and-rear kit. The front records 1440p at 30fps. The rear is a 1080p module on Nextbase’s click-in system. For a UK family car that is a sensible dual layout. It is not a 4K STARVIS 2 layout.
Intelligent Parking Mode is in the menu. Nextbase’s own 422GW manual is blunt: they only recommend it with a permanently live supply from a Nextbase hardwire kit. Without that, the camera shuts down with the ignition. That is the rule we apply to every camera on this site: without a live supply after ignition off, parking mode is not real.
Night vision is listed as “enhanced”. There is no named Sony STARVIS 2 sensor. Independent reviews of this generation generally put it as fine in the day and average after dark. We do not invent a plate-read result on top of that.
Choose this if you want a screen and a UK service network. Choose the VIOFO A229 Pro or the 70mai A810S if the job is footage quality.

Anyone grading cameras on STARVIS 2 sensors or radar parking.
