Vantrue N4 Pro S review
We'd look at the N4 Pro S if you want three cameras, a big screen and a rear camera that can go outside the car. If you'd like the higher-resolution cabin camera, the VIOFO A329S is the one to compare.

Illustrative imageIf you want front, cabin and rear covered, the N4 Pro S does it with Sony STARVIS 2 sensors on all three: an IMX678 at the front, an IMX662 in the cabin and an IMX675 at the rear. By default it records 4K at the front, 1080p in the cabin and 1440p at the rear, all at 30fps. That's a strong set of published sensors, so it gets an A for night and evidence.
The rear camera is rated IP67, so Vantrue says you can mount it inside or outside. That's handy if your van's a panel van with no rear window, or you've got a pickup. The cabin camera has infrared LEDs, so it can see passengers when it's dark.
Here's the catch: Vantrue says the parking guard must be hardwired, and the kit's sold separately. Once it is, you get collision and motion detection, plus low-bitrate, low-frame-rate and time-lapse modes to choose from.
If you'd like a 2K cabin camera and the option of SSD storage, we'd compare it with the VIOFO A329S. And if you only need front and rear, the VIOFO A229 Pro 2CH keeps things simpler.
Who this suits
You drive a taxi or private-hire car, or you just want the cabin on record.
You'd like a rear camera rated IP67, so it can be mounted outside on a van or pickup.
You'll fit a hardwire kit for parking mode.
When another camera fits better
You don't need a cabin camera. A front-and-rear kit is simpler.
You want a 2K cabin camera. The N4 Pro S cabin records 1080p.
What works well
- STARVIS 2 sensors on all three cameras
- IP67 rear camera can be mounted inside or outside the vehicle
- 3.19-inch screen and dual-band Wi-Fi
What to watch for
- The cabin camera is 1080p, lower than the VIOFO A329S cabin
- Parking needs a hardwire kit bought separately
- Vantrue rates it to 60°C, so very hot days can be a limit
Common questions
- Is the Vantrue N4 Pro S good for a taxi or private hire?
- It's built for it on paper. You get a cabin camera with infrared LEDs alongside the front and rear, all with STARVIS 2 sensors.
- Can the rear camera go outside the vehicle?
- Yes. Vantrue rates the rear camera IP67 and says it can be mounted inside or outside, which suits vans with no rear window.
- Should I choose the N4 Pro S or the VIOFO A329S?
- We'd go for the A329S if you want a 2K cabin camera and SSD storage, and the N4 Pro S if you'd like the bigger screen and an outdoor-rated rear camera.

Also consider
- VIOFO A329S 3CH
If you want the road ahead, the cabin and the back of your car all on record, this is VIOFO's three-camera kit with STARVIS 2 sensors on every channel. The catch: parking mode needs a hardwire kit, and the HK6 if you want the clever voltage features.
- VIOFO A229 Pro 2CH
If footage quality is what you care about, this front-and-rear kit is built around it: 4K and 2K STARVIS 2 cameras, with buffered parking once you've fitted a hardwire kit.
- Thinkware U3000 PRO Front + Rear
If parking mode's the big reason you want a dash cam, the U3000 PRO pairs a 4K front with a 2K rear, both on Sony STARVIS 2 sensors, and has radar built into both cameras. You'll need to hardwire it before it can keep recording while you're parked. This Amazon kit includes a hardwire lead.
