Thinkware Q1000 Front + Rear review
Buy this if you want Thinkware parking habits on a 2K dual. Skip it if you want radar in the box, or 4K at the front.

The Q1000 is Thinkware’s 2K dual. Both cameras are listed at 2K QHD with Sony STARVIS sensors and Super Night Vision 3.0. True HDR is on the published spec. For a bump from behind in a car park, a 2K rear is the honest advantage over a 4K-front-only kit.
Parking is motion, impact, time-lapse, and energy saving — on a hardwire kit. Radar exists for this model as the separate U4KRADAR puck. That puck is how Thinkware extends overnight recording while drawing less power. It is not in a typical Amazon Q1000 dual box. We grade parking B+ because the suite is real and the radar is extra. The U3000 is the A because radar is built in.
If overnight street parking is the main reason you are buying, spend the extra on the U3000. If you want Thinkware habits on a matched 2K dual, this is the one. Install is still a hardwire or OBD-II job.
Who it is for
Drivers who like Thinkware’s hardwire-and-forget parking.
People who can live with 2K instead of 4K.
Anyone who wants a 2K rear without buying a separate radar kit today.
Who should skip it
Anyone who thinks the radar module is included. It is a separate part.
Anyone who wants 4K at the front (U3000 or a VIOFO dual).
Anyone who will only use a cigarette-lighter lead.
The good
- 2K on both cameras, which is a fairer dual than a 4K front with a 1080p rear
- Thinkware parking modes and battery protection are the point of this brand
- No screen, so it stays small on the glass
The bad
- Not 4K
- Radar is optional, unlike the U3000
- Install is still a hardwire job
Common questions
- Is radar included?
- No. U4KRADAR is optional on the Q1000. Built in on the U3000.
- Why not buy the U3000?
- Buy the U3000 if overnight radar is the reason you are shopping. Buy the Q1000 if 2K dual Thinkware parking is enough.
- Front and rear both 2K?
- Yes on this dual listing — 2K QHD at about 30fps each, or 1080p at 60fps on the front option in the sheet.
